
MT. PLEASANT, IA. - In the first day of the Sammons Classic at Iowa Wesleyan, Judson University split their two games falling to Lindendwood University, 9-3, and then pulling out an 11-inning win over Harris-Stowe, 4-3. Lizzy Jacobson received the win vs. Harris-Stowe while also hitting in the tying run to send the game to extra innings and was the winning run in the 11th inning. Victoria Perez had two clutch doubles that tied and then won the game for Judson.
In the fourth, Danielle Curylo singled home Sam Gladen for the first run and then Concetta Lampugnano connected for her second home run of the year to make it 6-3.
Carrie Sensor, Kristin Krueger, and Jacobson all had two hits. Lampugnano had a home run while Gladen recorded a double. Virginia McAndrews took the loss while giving up eight earned runs with eight strikeouts.
Jacobson pitched the entire 11 innings and recorded 11 strikeouts with only one walk and one earned run. Jacboson went 4-of-6 at the plate with one RBI while Perez was 3-of-6 with two RBI. Leah Hoffman also added a RBI.
In the bottom of the second inning, Judson scored the first run of the game when Hoffman doubled home Perez. Harris-Stowe tied the game in the top of the fifth and then took at 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning. Answering in the bottom of the seventh, with the game on the line, Jacobson tripled to left center field to bring in Krueger tying the game.
Harris-Stowe took a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth but Judson answered again in the bottom of the ninth inning. Jacobson doubled with two outs and then was brought home by a Perez double to tie the game at three.
Perez then doubled home Jacobson in the bottom of the 11th inning for the win.
Judson will play three games in day two of the Sammons Classic at Iowa Wesleyan.
