Judson 16, Cardinal Stritch 6 - Box

MILWAUKEE, WI. - Pounding out 20 hits and 16 runs in the single game, Judson University (13-15/8-6) handled Cardinal Stritch (3-29/1-11), 16-6, in a CCAC contest and now has won five games in a row. Judson scored seven runs in the final three innings that broke open the game after only having a four-run lead, 9-5.

Kevin Fischer, Manny Bobadilla, and Chris Lucius all had three hits. Fischer recorded two doubles and a triple for six RBI while Tim Victor swatted his second home run of the year and Matt McHenry had his first. Victor finished with four RBI while Bret Ehrlich and Matt McHenry had two RBI and Lucius one.

Phillip Stewart started the game and went four innings with four strikeouts and two earned runs. Scott Baier finished the final five innings for his first win of the year at Judson. He also had four strikeouts and no earned runs given up.

After the first out of the game, Victor stepped to the plate in the top of the first inning and blasted a home run over the left field fence. Cardinal Stritch answered in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at one. Judson shot right back with two run in the top of the second inning for a 3-1 lead. Fischer picked up the first of his six RBI with a two-out double scoring both Lucius and Royce Krueger.

Cardinal Stritch cut the lead to one, 3-2, in the bottom of the inning only to see Judson make the score 4-2 in the top of the fourth inning. Victor knocked in his second RBI with a fielder's choice scoring Mike Krueger. Once again, Cardinal Stritch came within one, 4-3, with one run in the bottom of the inning.

It was in the top of the fifth inning that Judson opened up the game with five runs to take a six-run advantage, 9-3. Zach Williams started off the inning being hit by the pitch and was not there very long as McHenry smacked his first career home run over left center field for the first two runs. Five batters later, Fischer grounded out scoring Bobadilla. Victor finished the scoring with a single up the middle adding two more runs to the board. Cardinal Stritch tried to answer with two runs to bring the lead down to four, 9-5.

After a scoreless sixth inning, Judson put up seven runs in the final three innings for their 16 runs. Fischer doubled in Lucius for the first of three runs in the seventh inning. Two batters later, Ehrlich singled up the middle for the final two runs of that innings as Jake Bostwick and Fischer scored.

In the eighth inning, Judson added another three runs as Lucius singled home Royce Krueger to make it 13-5. Fischer, who was the very next batter, recorded his third hit of the game with a triple that had both Lucius and Mike Krueger putting their footprints on home plate.

Cardinal Stritch did find one run in the bottom of the eighth to bring the deficit to nine, 15-6, but Judson made it a 10-run game in the top of the ninth. Bostwick, pinch hitting for Royce Krueger, made the most of the at-bat with a single and picked up a RBI as Williams recorded the final run of the game.

Judson will host Calumet College on Friday, April 10th, at 2:00 p.m. at Hoffer Field.
