ELGIN, IL. - Celebrating the life of Robert Hoffer and his family for their support of baseball, Judson University will have Hoffer Day on Saturday, April 4th, against Illinois Tech. The game will start at 1:00 p.m. and is a double header as Bill Hoffer, son of Dr. Robert Hoffer, will throw out the first pitch. The day will also include a cook out with all proceeds going to the Judson University baseball program.
Bill Hoffer recently donated the money for the new scoreboard at Hoffer Field. Bill Hoffer is the owner of Hoffer Plastics whose logo is on the scoreboard. The new scoreboard is state-of-the-art that features inning by inning scoring, how is at-bat, hits, errors, and runs. The scoreboard was recently completed and has been used the last two weeks.
Robert Hoffer, who is in the Judson Athletics Hall of Fame, gave several donations to Judson since the 1990s to help with both the baseball and softball programs. His donations have helped baseball with the maintenance of the field, lights, dugouts, and pressbox. In 2000, the field was officially dedicated as Hoffer Field.
Everyone is invited to come out and fellowship with the Hoffers and take part in this special day. For more information, you can contact head baseball coach Rich Benjamin at
