WESTVILLE, IN. - Taking game one in the two game CCAC series in Indiana, Judson University (8-14/3-5) clipped Purdue-North Central (11-12/5-1), 7-6, but then fell in game two, 12-2. The loss for Purdue-North Central was their first in the CCAC.

Game 1
Judson 7, Purdue-North Central 6

Mike Krueger singled in the winning run in the top of the seventh inning with a shot up the middle to score Jake Bostwick to make it 7-6. Heath Groves then retired the side in the bottom of the inning to move to 2-0 on the year and in the CCAC.

Kevin Fischer led Judson as he was a perfect 4-of-4 on the day with two runs scored. Zach Scipione went 3-of-4 with one RBI. Bret Ehrlich recorded a triple for two RBI and Matt McHenry also had one RBI.

Judson jumped out in front for a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Ehrlich tripled to score Chris Lucius. Two batters later, Scipione picked up his lone RBI with a single to left center bringing home Ehrlich. Purdue-North Central answered in the bottom of the first for one run to make it 2-1.

Judson made it 3-1 in the top of the third inning when Fischer scored on a McHenry double to center field. Judson lead did not last long as Purdue-North Central put up three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead, 4-3. They then made it 5-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning but Judson bounced back with one run in the top of the fifth cut the lead to one, 5-4, when McHenry scored on a wild pitch. Purdue-North Central put the lead back at two, 6-4, in the bottom of the inning.

Answering with two runs in the top of the sixth, Judson tied the game at six. With one out, Fischer tripled to right center field to be put in scoring position. Lucius then brought him home on a Purdue-North Central error to cut the lead to one, 6-5. Lucius then came home to tie the game on an Erhlich ground out to tie the game.

Groves pitching in the final two innings was the difference as he retired the side in both the sixth and seventh inning. In the top of the seventh inning, Judson's Mike Krueger singled home Bostwick for the game winning run.

Game 2
Purdue-North Central 12, Judson 2

Judson once again scored early to make it 1-0 in the top of the first only to see Purdue-North Central take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning. Bret Ehrlich blasted his first home run of the year to give Judson the 1-0 lead. Judson then tied the game at two in the top of the second when Mike Krueger singled home Jake Bostwick. That was the final run that Judson would score in the game.

Purdue-North Central added three runs in the third to make it 5-2 and then erupted for six runs in the fourth inning for a 11-2 advantage. Their final run came in the bottom of the fifth inning to finish the game.

Judson had five errors in the loss and was out hit, 13-7. Matt McHenry went 2-of-3 while Royce Krueger was 2-of-2. Ehrlich and Mike Krueger each had a RBI. Trent Golz went 4.1 innings for the loss and had two strikeouts and gave up five earned runs.

Judson's next game will be against NCAA Division II Wisconsin-Parkside on Tuesday, March 31st, in Wisconsin at 2:30 p.m.
