
PALOS HEIGHTS, IL. - Earning their third and fourth shutouts of the year, Judson University (11-6/2-0) blanked Trinity Christian College (1-19/0-2) in softball CCAC play, 4-0 and 5-0. Judson has now won five games in a row and six out of their last seven.
Nicole Dimiceli and Lizzy Jacobson led Judson in the offensive end. Dimiceli had three hits and four RBI with one hit her fourth home run of the year. Jacobson had four hits and three RBI while also collecting her third home run of the year. Jacobson improved to 3-3 on the year in game one as the starter and Virginia McAndrews won game to for her second win.
Judson scored two runs in the fourth and sixth innings to come away with the 4-0 win. Carrie Sensor, who led Judson with two hits in game one, started the inning with a single. Nicole Dimiceli then stepped to the plate and slapped her fourth home run of the year for the 2-0 lead. Then, two innings later, it was almost the same scenario. Sensor started off the inning with a hit but then Dimiceli popped out. It was Jacobson that made it 4-0 next when she slammed a home run to finish off the scoring.
Jacobson pitched a complete game shutout to even her record at .500 at 3-3.
Judson did the scoring in the odd innings putting two runs on the board in the first and third innings and then adding their fifth run in the fifth inning. Nicole Dimiceli added two more RBIs to give her 27 RBI on the season in the first inning with a single that scored Sensor and Concetta Lampugnano. Two innings later, Jacobson put down a perfect bunt that scored Lampugnano and then Sensor came home on a throwing error by the catcher for a 4-0 advantage. In the fifth inning Nicole Dimiceli came home on a fielding error to make it 5-0.
Jacobson went 3-of-4 with one RBI. Nicole Dimiceli was 2-of-3 with two RBI while Lampugnano was also 2-of-3. Virginia McAndrews pitched the complete game shutout and recorded a career-high 13 strikeouts only allowing two hits. She struck out the side in the third with the only hits coming in the fourth and seventh innings.
Judson will face a strong Olivet Nazarene team on Thursday, March 26th, at 5:00 p.m. , at the Judson Softball Complex. Olivet Nazarene is receiving votes in the latest NAIA national poll and have been ranked as high as #9 in the nation this year.
