
TUCSON, AZ. - Judson University's five-game winning streak came to a halt on day four of the Tucson Invitational as the Eagles lost to both #5 Dickinson State, 11-0, and Minot State, 7-4. Judson is now 5-4 on the year.
Judson only collected one hit in the loss from Victoria Perez. Brianne Simmons went only 0.2 innings and gave up seven runs in which four were earned. Virginia McAndrews went the rest of the way and allowed four runs, two earned, while recording six strikeouts. Dickinson State did a lot of their damage in the first inning with seven runs.
With the game going back and forth, Minot State took the upper hand in the fourth inning, 5-3, and then held onto the 7-4 win. Judson scored two runs in the first inning but Minot State had three straight innings of one runs for a 3-2 advantage. Judson tied the game up at three in the top of the fourth only to give up two runs in the bottom of the inning. Judson did come within one, 5-4, in the sixth inning but allowed two runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 7-4.
Nicole Dimiceli led Judson with a 2-of-4 performance at the plate and had two RBI. Victoria Perez also had two hits. Liz Jacobson went four innings for the loss and had four strikeouts. McAndrews pitched the final two innings and had two strikeouts.
Judson will finish the invitational with one more game against Minot State on Saturday, March 14th, before coming back to Illinois.
