
Ormond Beach, FL. - Winning their second game of the season, Judson University (2-3) split with Marian College (IN) in the Ormond Beach Collegiate Classic. Judson fell in the first game, 3-1, but then bounced back for a 10-5 win in game two.
Stefan Alinkas went five innings and gave up two runs on four hits for the loss. Scott Newton pitched the sixth inning and was followed by Jason Egli in the seventh. Zach Scipione led Judson with three hits as Brett Ehrlich, Mike Krueger, and Chris Lucius all had two hits. Ehrlich and Lucius each had a double.
Scoring seven runs with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, Judson came back from a 5-3 deficit for the five-run win. Judson was down to their final out in the seventh inning when the rally started. Mike Krueger secured the win with a bases clearing triple and then came home on a throwing error to make it 10-5.
Both Matt McHenry and Royce Krueger went 3-of-4 and had a RBI. Manny Bobadilla and Josh Banks each had two hits. Mike Krueger led Judson with three RBI while Zach Williams had two RBI and Ehrlich one RBI.
Matt Musser picked up his first collegiate win by pitching only the sixth inning. Jason Egli finished the game in the seventh. Phillip Stewart started the game and went four innings and gave up three runs. Zac Phillips went the fifth inning and allowed one run before Musser and Egli finished for Judson.
Judson will now play #19 Missouri Baptist at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11th.
