CHATTANOOGA, TN. - Combining for 30 runs, 12 stolen bases, and three home runs in their first two games of the season, Judson University (1-1) split with Tennessee Temple. Judson fell in game one, 19-18, in eight innings and then bounced back to take game two, 12-1.

"Our team showed a lot of character in this series," quotes head coach Rich Benjamin. "After losing game one in extra innings and scoring 18 runs, our team bounced right back and put five runs on the board in the first inning of the second game. I am proud of them."

Manny Bobadilla led Judson in both games as he combined to go 5-of-8 with two home runs, one double, and five RBI. Chris Lucius also hit a home run in game two and had four stolen bases on the day. Picking up his first collegiate win was Trent Golz in game two.

Game 1

Judson had a lot of fire power in their first game of the season after traveling over night to Chattanooga putting up 18 runs in the first game along with 18 hits. Bobadilla hit the go ahead home run in the top of the eighth inning to make it 18-17. Judson then gave up two runs in the bottom of the inning as Tennessee Temple took game one.

Bobadilla, Bret Ehrlich, and Zac Williams led Judson with three hits each while Zach Scipione and Matt McHenry had two hits. McHenry's first hit was the first of his collegiate career. Kevin Fischer added two hits, too, along with one stolen base. Williams and Ehrlich had two RBI a piece while Bobadilla smacked in five. In his debut for Judson, Lucius had four stolen bases.

Four different pitchers went to the mound for Judson as Ed Draper started and went four innings. He had the no-decision and gave up four earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts. Scott Baier went one inning and gave up four runs on four hits and was followed by Scott Newton who did not record an out and gave up five runs. Jason Egli finished the final three innings for the loss.

Game 2

It was all Judson in game two as Golz went the distance giving up just one earned run and scattered five hits in six innings of work. Judson's offense produced five runs in the first and third inning and then two in the sixth for the win.

McHenry led Judson as he went 3-of-4 with two doubles and was followed by Bobadilla's and Royce Krueger's two hits and one double each. Lucius hit his first home run of the year and Fischer, Williams, Scipione, and Jake Bostwick each had a hit.

Judson will now take on Jamestown College on Monday, March 9th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ormond Beach (FL) Sports Complex.
