
PALOS HEIGHTS, IL - Recording their lowest scoring output of the year, Judson University (16-11/6-3) fell on the road to Trinity Christian College (7-22/3-6), 56-34. Judson also had their lowest shooting percentage of the year with 18%.
Kristi Siemers led Judson with eight points. Crystal Goodall and Kim Peek gave Judson seven points each while Goodall was the leading rebounder with nine. Amanda Learned had 14 points for Trinity Christian.
For the second game in a row Judson shot under 20% in the first half as they only made six shots from the floor (17%). After taking a 4-2 lead, on shots from Goodall and Parsons, Trinity Christian shut out Judson's offense for almost seven minutes with a 9-0 run. The Trolls took an 11-4 in that time before Judson hit only their third shot of the game at the 12:03 mark on a Siemers three-pointer. Goodall put Judson within two, 11-9, with 10:55 left in the half but then Judson's offense went dry for another seven minutes. In this span, Trinity Christian had an 11-0 run to move their lead to 13, 22-9. Hannah Welding broke Judson's dry spell when she swooshed a three-pointer with 3:57 remaining to make it 22-12. A three-point conversion by Rachel Pope with 2:31 left was the final points for Judson as Trinity Christian took a 26-15 lead at the half.
The second half was a mirror of the first half for Judson as they only scored 19 points. Judson cut the lead to nine, 26-17, with two free throws by Siemers just 30 seconds in the half. That is as close as Judson would come as the offense did not score another point for almost four minutes. Trinity Christian increased their lead to 14, 31-17, in that time until Siemers hit her second three-pointer of the game to end the scoring skid with 15:32 left in the game. Johns brought Trinity Christian's lead to 14, 36-22, with 14:13 left in the game.
From that point on, Judson did not hit another shot from the floor for eight minutes. Peek did make two free throws in that span but Judson did not hit a basket until the 6:17 mark as Johns hit another shot. Trinity Christian put together a 15-2 run in that span for a 17-point lead, 51-24. Trinity Christian took their largest lead of 26, 56-30, with 3:11 left in the game.
Judson finished shooting only 18% on the game and shot only 15% from three-point land. They did make 81% from the free throw line. Trinity Christian made 47% of their shots, was 38% from three-point land, but made only 46% from the stripe. Judson was out rebounded, 48-33, but did force 27 turnovers with 18 steals.
Judson will finish the regular season on Saturday, February 21st, vs. Calumet College at the Lindner Fitness Center at 5:30 p.m.
