
HAMMOND, IN. - Judson University (17-10/7-2) secured their 17th win of the year with a 93-90 win over Purdue University-Calumet (3-22/3-7). Dewayne Robinson (Memphis, TN) stole the ball from Purdue-Calumet as time expired before the Peregrines could get a shot off to tie the game. Judson has now won five games in a row and is still one-game back of the CCAC lead behind Trinity Christian.
For the third time this season Robinson netted 30 points while playing the entire game leading four Judson players in double figures. Landon Skinner (Plano, TX) was back in form with 24 points while Josh Weber (Sterling, IL) had 14 points and Ben Rayhorn (Dakota, IL) 10 points. Weber also collected his second double-double at Judson leading the team with 12 rebounds.
Judson was up by as many as 12 in the second half but Purdue-Calumet worked Judson's lead down to three with 1:09 left in the game. Robinson connected on a shot with 33 seconds left to put the lead back at five, 93-88, before the Peregrines made things exciting with 10 seconds left by cutting the lead back to three. After Robinson was fouled, and missed both free throws, Purdue-Calumet grabbed the defensive rebound. They then missed a three-point attempt with Robinson sealing the victory with a steal after Purdue-Calumet grabbed the offensive rebound.
Judson shot 47% from the floor, 36% from three-point land, and 69% from the stripe. Purdue-Calumet finished shooting 45% from the floor, 54% from beyond the arc, and 66% from the foul line. Purdue-Calumet out rebounded Judson, 38-37, and had less turnovers, 20-19. Judson had 12 steals to Purdue-Calumet's four.
Judson will now host Trinity International on Saturday, February 14th, at 7:30 p.m. in CCAC play.
