Judson 97, Silver Lake 56 - Box

ELGIN, IL - Five players in double figures led by Landon Skinner's (Plano, TX) 23 points gave Judson University (6-4) a 97-56 win over Silver Lake College (2-9). Judson shot 60% from the floor and made 40% of their three-pointers while also out rebounding Silver Lake, 50-27.

"It felt good (tonight) as we were having fun out there," says Skinner about Judson's win. "That's the game of basketball. It's the game we love to play and we were just having fun."

Skinner led all scorers with 23 points and has now scored 20 or more points in seven of his first 10 games. Caleb Sutton (Lincoln, IL) had a career game with 16 points and four rebounds in his first collegiate start. Ben Rayhorn (Dakota, IL) added 13 points while both Ryan Shelton (Loves Park, IL) and Dovydas Retkus (Lithuania) had 14 points. Josh Weber (Sterling, IL) also grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds. Zak Zablocki had 15 points for Silver Lake.

After Silver Lake took a 2-0 lead on the opening bucket, Judson scored the next seven points for a five-point lead, 7-2. A three-pointer by Sutton at the 19:23 mark gave Judson the only lead they would need, 3-2, as he started the 7-0 run. Silver Lake did come within three, 7-4, at the 17:21 mark, but Judson had the lead to nine, 16-7, with 15:36 left in the first half. Silver Lake did not go away easily in the first eight minutes of the game as they were within six, 18-12. In the final 12 minutes of the half, Judson outscored Silver Lake, 37-17, for a 26-point lead at the half, 55-29. A dunk by Sutton at the 8:17 mark put Judson past the 20-point lead mark, 39-18, as the lead never dipped under 20 from that point on.

Judson made it a 32-point lead just over three minutes into the second half, 63-31, on a Rayhorn three-pointer. With 11:09 left in the game, Skinner converted a three-point play to give Judson a 40-point lead, 83-43. Judson's largest lead of 49-points came with 2:15 left in the game, 97-48, on a Shelton layup.

Silver Lake finished the game only shooting 37% from the floor, 14% from three-point land, and 27% from the foul line. They had fewer turnovers (16) than Judson's 18 but only had 11 steals to Judson's 13.

Judson will participate in the Bethel College Tournament on Friday and Saturday, December 12-13, as they face Ohio Dominican and #2 Bethel College (IN).
