SOUTH EUCLID, OH. - The road to the final 16 of the NAIA National Tournament for Judson University ended in the NAIA first-round as they fell to #2 Notre Dame College, 6-1. Notre Dame College scored three goals in each half.
Judson scored their lone goal in the 60th minute in the second half to make it 3-1 when Gustavo Oliveira (Brazil) found Leonard Silva (Brazil) at the top of th box. Silva then hit the shot from 10-yards out. Not less than two minutes later, Notre Dame put Judson's hope of a comeback to rest with with fourth goal of the game. Notre Dame then netted two more goals after that to advance to the final 16 in the NAIA National Tournament to be played in California.
Notre Dame College out shot Judson, 23-14, and had more fouls, 22-19. Judson had seven saves to Notre Dame's four. Judson's Alex Tyton (Elgin, IL) received the loss with just 17 minutes in the goal and two goals against. Cristiano Costa (Brazil) finished the last 73 minutes and recorded seven saves.
Judson finishes the season at 15-6 and made their fifth straight appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. Judson loses five seniors from the team and will have several returners for the 2009 season.
