Judson 2, Cardinal Stritch 1 - Box

Milwaukee, WI.- Keeping everybody on their toes in the 2008 post season, Judson University came from behind for a 2-1 overtime win against #2 seed Cardinal Stritch in the CCAC Tournament semi-final match. Leonardo Silva (Brazil) collected both goals to push Judson to play for their fifth straight CCAC Tournament Championship.

For the second time in a week, Silva scored both goals for the win against Cardinal Stritch. Silva netted both goals in a 2-0 win on October 29th to give Judson the #3 seed in the CCAC Tournament. He then pulled off the same feat again in the CCAC Tournament match against Cardinal Stritch with goals in the 77th and 96th minutes.

The first half was a very slow and defensive half as there were only four shots with three coming from Judson. Cardinal Stritch's only shot on goal in the first half came in the 12th minute as Alex Tyton (Elgin,IL) recorded his only save of the match. Judson had back-to-back shots from William Zardetto (Brazil) and Sven Moeller (Germany) in the 20th minute but Zardetto's shot hit the post and Moeller shot went wide. Vitor Bravo (Brazil) took the other shot in the 27th minute as it was wide also.

After a scoreless first half, Cardinal Stritch broke the 0-0 tie in the 64th minute when David Perich found the net. After the Cardinal Stritch goal, Judson had five shots with two on goal in 13 minutes before Silva scored in the 77th minute. After Silva's goal, neither team got a shot off.

Silva's shot in the 96th minute (95:59) was the only shot taken in the overtime period for the win.

Judson out shot Cardinal Stritch, 11-3, and took four corner kicks to their one. Cardinal Stritch had more fouls, 19-13, than Judson. Tyton had only one save for Judson in the win while the Wolves' David Metcalf had two saves.

Judson will now travel to Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday, November 8th, to face Illinois Tech in the CCAC Tournament Championship match. This will be the fifth straight CCAC Tournament Championship match that Judson will play in.
