Judson 2, Cardinal Stritch 0 - Box

Elgin, IL.- Connecting for two goals and helping Judson to the #3 seed in the CCAC Tournament, Judson University (12-5/6-3) senior Leonardo Silva (Brazil) ended the regular season with a bang in a 2-0 win over Cardinal Stritch (8-6-2/6-2-1). The win moves Judson ahead of Olivet Nazarene for the #3 seed in the CCAC post-season tournament.

From start to finish, Judson was in control of the match. In the first half, Judson only allowed one Cardinal Stritch shot while taking five. In the 44th minute, Tom Kruse (Germany) dribbled down the far sideline and into the box to find Silva in the left top corner for the first goal of the match.

Stewart Sogge (Elgin,IL) took the first shot of the match in the 15th minute but it went high. Two shots by Petar Bajic (Serbia) in the 39th and 43rd minutes missed the goal along with a shot by Adauto Oliveira (Brazil) in the 41st minute. It was not until the 44th minute that Silva put in the first goal.

Cardinal Stritch tried to even out the shots in the second half with three shots but their two on goal did not come until the last 10 minutes of the match. Judson's Alex Tyton (Elgin,IL) stopped both shots in the 82nd and 90th minutes.

In the 70th minute, Silva collected his second goal of the match when he crossed a dribble behind the goalie and then into the net to make it 2-0. In the 74th minute, Silva almost picked up a hat trick but just missed the goal as the shot when wide to the left.

Judson out shot Cardinal Stritch, 10-4, and had more fouls, 14-11. Each team took two corner kicks. Judson's Tyton recorded two saves in the win.

Judson has now recorded eight shutouts on season and back-to-back shut outs. Of the eight shutouts, Tyton has recorded six of them.

With the win, Judson is now the #3 seed in the CCAC post-season tournament and will host Trinity International University at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 1st.
