Elgin, IL - Despite two early goals, Judson University (7-10-1/4-5) was unable to hold off Robert Morris College (9-8-1/6-2-1) and fell 3-2. In the loss, Judson's Christian Thornton (Algonquin, IL) surpassed Leslie Ferguson as the Judson's all-time points leader with 138 career points.
Judson had two goals coming in the first half, both by Thornton. The first goal came in the 14th minute with a breakaway goal kicked into the top of the net. Getting the assist for the goal was Lynsey McFarland (Scotland). Getting an assist on Christina's second goal of the game was Kathryn Pansino (Elgin, IL) as she led Christina into the box where she dribbled around the goalie for the goal. That was all the scoring in the first half.
In the second half Robert Morris scored in the 62nd minute to bring the game within one goal. Maria Shipe was able to get a goal in the middle of the net. In the 72nd minute Robert Morris tied the game with a goal from Patrica Nogueira and then took the lead in the 74th minute when Gifty Appiah scored to give Robert Morris the 3-2 advantage.
Judson came within inches of tying the game in the 82nd minute when Christina almost collected her third goal of the day but it bounced of the left post and away from the goal. The final score of the game remained 3-2 with Judson had 11 shots, seven of which were on goal. Robert Morris had only nine shots but eight of them were on goal. Mackenzie Fowler (Crosby, TX) picked up five saves for Judson.
