Judson 2, Olivet Nazarene 1 - Box l Season Stats

Elgin, IL.- Lynsey McFarland (Scotland) secured the win for Judson University (7-9-1/4-4) in the 58th minute when she headed in the winning goal between the goalie's legs off of an Emma Mugg (Shawnee, KS) corner kick to make it 2-1 over Olivet Nazarene University (9-6-1/4-4). The win still puts Judson in the thick of things for the CCAC post-season tournament.

McFarland gave Judson the 2-1 lead in the 58th minute when the ball found her foot in the mix of many feet within the box. She then tapped the ball into the right corner of the net to beat Olivet Nazarene's goalie Danielle Johnston for the game winning goal. Olivet Nazarene only had one shot after that in the 77th minute but was denied by Judson's Mackenzie Fowler (Crosby, TX). That save was Fowler's lone save of the match. The lone Olivet Nazarene shot was also the only shot of the second half by the Tigers. Judson out shot Olivet Nazarene, four to one, in the second half with the goal as the only shot on goal.

Christina Thornton (Algonquin, IL) moved closer to becoming the all-time point's leader at Judson as she picked up the first goal of the game in the fifth minute. Rebecca O'Donnell (Wheeling, IL) sent in a pass to the box to Thornton and then Thornton worked her magic netting the goal for a 1-0 advantage. The goal now gives her 134 career points and she only needs four more points to surpass Leslie Ferguson's record of 137.

At the 18:01 mark, Olivet Nazarene's Megan Taylor crossed a shot into the box that looked like would be hit out by Judson's Fowler but was tipped into the top of the cross bar for a goal. Judson's Fowler almost had the save but the tap did not clear the bar and went into the net for the tie at one. Both teams went at each other in the first half with six shots each.

Olivet Nazarene University recorded 11 fouls to Judson's six and two yellow cards were handed out in the contest. Judson took nine corner kicks to Olivet Nazarene's three. Fowler finished the match with one save and while facing seven shots. Olivet Nazarene's Johnston had three saves in the loss.

Judson will finish the regular season on Saturday, October 25th, at 12:00 p.m. vs. Robert Morris College. The day is Senior Day and the Steve Burke Celebration Day.
