Illinois Tech 2, Judson 1 - Box
Elgin, IL.- Looking as though the game was going to go to overtime, Illinois Tech (11-3/7-0) flicked in the game winning goal to slip by Judson University (10-4/4-2) ending Judson's six-match winning streak. Illinois Tech's Rob Ritchie-Smith flicked a high shot over Judson's Alex Tyton (Elgin, IL) with just over a minute left in the match for the win.
The clock reading 88:54, Illinois Tech made a last second surge in the box as Allan Coates found Ritchie-Smith for a split second. Ritchie-Smith then flicked the ball the right way over Tyton's reach into the left far net for the game winning goal.
Both teams fought hard in the match with 36 combined fouls and 15 shots taken. Judson out shot Illinois Tech, 10-5 and had six shots on goal. In the first half, Judson out shot Illinois Tech, four to one, with their lone shot landing in the net. Illinois Tech's Thiago Jardim scored in the 10th minute for an early 1-0 lead. Judson, though, attacked Illinois Tech before that with three shots at goalie Michale Tilatti. Milos Bajic (Serbia) took the first three shots with two on goal in fifth and sixth minute. Vitor Bravo (Brazil) tried to tie the game in the 17th minute but Tilatti recorded his third save of the match. After that shot, neither team could get a shot off in the next 28 minutes.
It only took five minutes into the second half for Jason Parmenter (Lincoln, IL) to tie the game at one. Bravo and Aduato Oliveira (Brazil) found Parmenter in the box and then Parmenter made a move around the goalie to tie the game and record his second career goal. Both teams traded shots the rest of the half but could not find the net. Judson had two chances in the 78th and 80th minute to take the lead on shots by Tom Kruse (Germany) and Aduato Oliveira but Tilatti stopped both shots.
Then, in the 89th minute, Illinois Tech sealed the victory on a lucky flick kick in the box to stay perfect in the CCAC.
Tyton received the lost and did not have any saves as Illinois Tech just took five shots with two on goal.
Judson will host Olivet Nazarene University in CCAC play at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21st, at Dawson Field.
