Judson 3, Calumet College 1 - Box l Season Stats

Elgin, IL - Playing in front of their largest crowd of the year, Judson University (5-21/1-6) did not disappoint the fans on "BLUE OUT" night as they came from behind for a 3-1 win over Calumet College (1-23/0-6). After losing the first set, 19-25, Judson bounced back with three straight set wins, 25-13, 25-9, 25-13, for their fifth win of the season and first CCAC victory.

Leading the attacking offense was junior Danielle Dull (Waupun, WI) with 20 kills. Those 20 kills are her second best in a career as she had 22 kills vs. Mt. Mercy earlier in the season. Helping with the offense was sophomore Carly Campioni (Crystal Lake, IL) with 29 assists. Tracey Enzenbacher finished with 17 digs while Debra Leganski (Elgin, IL) had 14 digs.

Calumet took command of the first game, 7-1, on serves from Kate Delaney and Ashley Kiettyka. Judson did fight back to come within one, 12-11. In that 10-5 run, Judson had serves from Carolyn Terwilliger (Kansas City, MO), Dull, Enzenbacher, and Campioni. It was a Dull kill that put Judson within one but a Calumet kill made it 13-11. Judson then tied the game at 14 on a Terwilliger service ace but Calumet scored the next point on a kill. Judson tied the game for a second time on another kill from Dull to make it 15 all. Calumet then scored the next seven points for a 22-15 lead en route to the 25-19 win.

With the momentum heading in Calumet's favor after the set one win, Judson put a quick end to that favor with a 5-0 start. Five straight serves from Campioni ended in points for Judson as the Eagles took a 6-1 lead. Judson went onto a seven-point lead, 11-4, on a Leganski kill, but Calumet came back to within six, 12-6. Both teams swapped points to make it, 18-10, when Judson scored the next seven of 10 points for the 25-13 win.

Set three brought a lot of momentum Judson's way as they took a 7-0 lead before Calumet even scored. Calumet received their first point on a Judson ball handling error. Judson's Kasey Smith (Burlington, WI) served six of the first seven points for Judson. Calumet did regroup to come within four, 10-6, only to see Judson score the next 12 of 14 points for a 22-8 lead. Judson let Calumet score one more point before finishing off the Crimson Wave, 25-9.

The final set was a lot like set two and three as Judson once again ran out to a 5-0 lead on serves from Campioni. Judson made it 8-2 on a Calumet service error but the Crimson Wave came roaring back to within one, 9-8. Judson responded with five straight points and three of those points on Leganski's serves and one service ace to make it 14-8. Judson did not lose control after that lead as Calumet was never in striking distance again. Judson then cruised to the match win, 25-13.

Judson will take a week off and host Purdue-North Central in CCAC play on Tuesday, October 21st, in the Lindner Fitness Center at 7:00 p.m.
