Judson 11, Cardinal Stritch 0 - Box

Elgin, Ill.- Coming to life with an offensive surge against Cardinal Stritch University (0-7/0-2), Judson University (3-5-1/1-1) exploded for 11 goals recording their second shutout of the year. Lynsey McFarland (Scotland) led Judson with three goals and three assists while Christina Thornton (Algonquin,IL) also had a hat trick coming in the first half.

It was a slow first 10 minutes of the match as neither team could control the ball and Judson had five shots that could not find the net. In the next 12 minutes, Judson combined for five goals with two back-to-back in less than 20 seconds. McFarland scored the first goal of the match in the box with 11:26 on the board when she dribbled into the box and took a shot from the top. Just 15 seconds later, Thornton then netted her first of three goals at the 11:41 mark to make it 2-0. Thornton added her second goal in the 18th minute when she took a rebound goalie save in the box and pushed it in for a three goal advantage. Her third goal was at the 24th minute to make it 5-0 when she broke free in the middle of the field on a pass from Rebecca O'Donnell (Wheeling,IL). McFarland recorded her second goal of the match in the 20th minute when she connected with the ball after a rebound save from the Cardinal Stritch goalie.

Judson added six goals in the second half with 26 shots. Ashley Williams (Lake In the Hills,IL) scored the first two goals of the second half in the 54th and 67th minutes. The first goal came off of Thornton's shot, which was a rebound save from Cardinal Stritch's goalie, as Williams took the rebound and found the net. In the 67th minute, Megan Hamm (Huntley, IL) found Williams in the box and then Williams dribbled around the goalie to make it 7-0.

Hamm netted her first collegiate goal in the 69th minute for an 8-0 advantage as she nailed a shot from 20-yards out. Just three minutes later, Emma Mugg (Shawnee, KS) picked up her first goal of the season and of the match. Mugg added her second goal of the game in the 90th minute for a 11-0 win when McFarland found her at the top of the box. McFarland made it 10-0 in the 86th minute when she took the ball off a dribble and shot it in from 10-yards out.

Overall, Judson took 46 shots and held Cardinal Stritch to one shot. Cardinal Stritch's one shot came in the first half and was not on goal. Judson took 26 shots in the first half and 20 in the second. Cardinal Stritch had 18 saves with 10 going to Amy Weaver, six to Joy Huggins, and two team saves. Mackenzie Fowler (Crosby, TX) did not have any saves but recorded her second shutout of the year.

Judson will travel to #13 Trinity Christian College on Wednesday, October 1st, in a CCAC match up at 5:00 p.m.
