Judson 1, St. Ambrose 1 (2 OT) - Box

Elgin, Ill.- Playing in their fourth overtime match of the year, Judson University (2-5-1) came away with a 1-1 tie against St. Ambrose University (0-6-1). This was the third double overtime match that Judson has played in this season.

After a slow first half and a 0-0 tie, the second half featured a goal by each team. Sophomore Lynsey McFarland (Scotland) netted her second goal of the season in the 64th minute when Betsy Barthel (Des Plaines, IL) aired out a kick from 30-yards. McFarland sailed in and headed the goal to make it 1-0. Just eight minutes later, St. Ambrose's Abby Kent sent a beautiful corner kick into the box where Krystina Schmitt booted in the tying goal. After that shot, St. Ambrose had five more shots with four on goal but could not find the back of the net as Judson's Mackenzie Fowler (Crosby, TX) stopped all four shots.

Judson had control of the first overtime period with four shots and one on goal. St. Ambrose's Erica Inendino caught Season Gilliam's (South Haven, MI) in the 96th minute to continue the overtime. St. Ambrose almost ended the match just four minutes into overtime when Shelby Van Gieson connected on a shot but was stopped by Judson's Fowler.

Each team only took one shot in the final overtime period as both were saved. Judson's Christina Thornton (Algonquin, IL) made an attempt at the 105th minute but was denied by St. Ambrose's Inendino. St. Ambrose's Katie Chambliss then took a chance for the win in the 106th minute but Fowler made her sixth save of the game.

Overall, Judson out shot St. Ambrose, 14-11, but St. Ambrose had more fouls, 15-8. Judson received eight corner kicks to St. Ambrose's three. Fowler ended the match with six saves and one team save for Judson and St. Ambrose's Inendino had seven saves.

Judson will host Cardinal Stritch at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27th, in the Homecoming match.
