St. Xavier 3, Judson 2 (2 OT) - Box

Chicago, IL - For the fourth time this season, and second time in double overtime, Judson University (2-5/0-1) dropped another heartbreaker by one goal as St. Xavier (3-5-1/1-0) won in double overtime, 3-2. St. Xavier's Sarah Scigalski hit a shot from 15-yards out in the 103rd minute for the win.

In a classic knock-down, drag out game between the two rivalries, St. Xavier took command of the game early in the first half, 2-0. They scored a goal in the 13th and 26th minutes for the two-goal lead. It was not until the 30th minute the Rebecca O'Donnell (Wheeling, IL) cut St. Xavier's lead to one, 2-1, when she put the ball into the left side of the net on a an assist from Christina Thornton (Algonquin, IL) and Betsy Barthel (Des Plaines, IL).

Judson attacked St. Xavier in the second half out shooting the Cougars, 9-5. In the 73rd minute, Thornton tied the game when she beat a St. Xavier defender to tie the game at two. In the final 16 minutes of the game, after the goal, Judson had four shots on goal to try and win it but St. Xavier's Danielle Wagner saved all the shots. St. Xavier also had a chance for the win in the 78th minute but Judson's Mackenzie Fowler (Crosby, TX) grabbed the shot to keep the tie.

The first overtime was the most frustrating as Judson's Thornton had a chance to win the game in the 100th minute but her shot hit the cross bar. Just two minutes into the second overtime period, St. Xavier took a corner kick that led to the winning goal.

Judson's Fowler finished the match with seven saves while St. Xavier's Wagner had eight. St. Xavier had 22 fouls to Judson's nine and both teams took 15 shots each.

Judson will now host St. Ambrose (IA) University on Thursday, September 25th, at 4:00 p.m. at Dawson Field.
