Judson 4, Bethel (IN) 2 - Box

Mishawauka, IN - Down 2-0 at the half, the Judson University (2-4) women's soccer team came from behind to claim a win over Bethel College (5-2), 4-2. The win for Judson breaks a four-match losing streak.

"We had patience and composure in this match," says head coach Diego Cevallos. "We were finally able to capitalize in the second half and after our first two goals we kept coming at them and did not stop. They scored two goals on us in the first half on counter attacks and then in the second half we just kept pressing hard and running at them."

Ashley Williams (Lake in the Hills, IL) and Christina Thornton (Algonquin, IL) led the offensive attack for Judson in the second half. Each scored two goals and Williams also had two assists and played a part of every goal Judson recorded.

Bethel scored early in the first half as Lindsey Hyduk netted a goal in the 12th minute to make it 1-0. Bethel then added their second goal just before halftime in the 41st minute when Sarah Mott found the net.

The second half belonged to Judson as they scored back-to-back goals in just under three minutes of each other. In the 54th minute, Williams found the first goal when Janee Romesburg (Rockwood, PA) passed up the ball to Williams. Two minutes later, Thornton tied the game at two with an assist from Williams and Lynsey McFarland (Scotland). It was not until the 71st minute that Judson took the lead on a Williams' goal when she took the ball alone and hit the back of the net. Thornton then scored a security goal in the 82nd minute to make it 4-2 on an assist from Williams.

Mackenzie Fowler (Crosby, TX) had four saves in the win and faced eight shots overall with six on goal. Judson out shot Bethel, 12 to eight, and also had 11 shots on goal. Judson also fouled more with 14 fouls to Bethel's eight.

Judson opens up CCAC play on Tuesday, September 23rd, in Chicago, IL, against St. Xavier University at 5:00 p.m.
