Mt. Vernon, OH - For the second time this season, Judson (1-4) had a heart breaking loss in overtime as the Eagles fell to host Mt. Vernon Nazarene (2-4), 3-2, in double overtime at the Cougar Classic. Judson was down by two goals before tying the game at two in the second half.

Just two minutes into the second overtime (103^rd minute), Mt. Vernon's Jessica Estep collected her third goal of the day when she slipped one by Judson's Mackenzie Fowler for the game winning goal. Judson had chances to win in the first overtime when Janee Romesburg (Rockwood, PA) had a look at the goal but Mt. Vernon's Jenessa Lowewen grabbed the save in the 95th minute. Just a minute later, Christina Thornton (Algonquin, IL) took a shot that went wide. Mt. Vernon also had their looks, too, as they had two shots hit the post and cross bar and one shot go wide in the final minute of the first overtime.

In the first half, Mt. Vernon took a 2-0 lead as Estep hit the first of her three goals in the match. The first goal came in the 20^th minute when she kicked in a loose ball in the box. Then, 19 minutes later, she broke away and beat Judson's defense to make it 2-0.

Judson did not give up as they owned the second half. Judson took seven more shots than Mt. Vernon, 10-3, and netted two goals to tie the game. In the 52^nd minute, Thornton made it 2-1 when Lynsey McFarland (Scotland) crossed the ball into the box and then Thornton headed in the goal. Ashley Williams (Lake in the Hills, IL) netted her third goal of the season in the 86^th minute to tie the game as she sailed a shot into the net from outside the box.

Overall, Mt. Vernon Nazarene out shot Judson, 22-15, and had more fouls, 13-10. Judson had four corner kicks to Mt. Vernon's three. In goal, Judson's Mackenzie Fowler (Crosby, TX) had six saves and Mt. Vernon's Loewen had four.

Judson will be off for a week and then travel to Indiana on Saturday, September 20^th, when they face Bethel College at 2:00 p.m.
