Elgin, IL - A first period penalty kick by Gustavo Oliveira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) gave Judson University (3-2) a 1-0 victory over Huntington (1-3-1) in the first round of the Judson Invitational. The goal came in the 37th minute as it was Gustavo's third goal of the season and his first game winning goal this season.
In the 37th minute Huntington was called for a yellow card as Oliveira was fouled in the box. He then stepped up and nailed the penalty to the left corner net to give Judson the 1-0 lead.
Defensively, Judson only allowed four shots with Cristiano Costa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) collecting two saves giving him 13 for the season. Only one shot was allowed by Judson's defense after grabbing the lead on the penalty kick with the other coming in the 68th minute.
Judson played most of the game on Huntington's side of the field as they had 16 shots, seven of which were on goal. Vitor Bravo (Salvador, Brazil), Adauto Oliveira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), and Gustavo all had three shots each.
It was a very physical game with a total of seven yellow cards and a player from each team receiving a red card. There was also 36 fouls in the match with 19 called on Huntington. Huntington's Kevin Keske had six saves in the lose.
Judson will play on Saturday, September 13th against St. Ambrose at 2:30 in a rematch of the 2007 NAIA Region VII Championship match.

Elgin, IL - In the second match of the day, St. Ambrose (3-2) pulled off the upset over #11 Notre Dame College (3-1), 1-0. St. Ambrose's Greg Lehman headed in the winning goal in the 76th minute for thew win.
It was a rough match with seven yellow cards and a combined 29 fouls in the match. St. Ambrose's Justin DeSousa had five saves for a shutout victory and Notre Dame's Craig Pickering recorded four saves.
Overall, Notre Dame took 12 shots to St. Ambrose's eight and also had six corner kicks to St. Ambrose's four.
Notre Dame will now face Huntington University at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13th, in the consolation match of the Judson University Invitational.
