Lamoni, Iowa - In a tough match on a neutral field in Iowa, the Judson University women’s soccer team fell to Graceland University (2-1), 3-1, in their second match of the season.  Graceland was ranked #15 in the nation last week but was not ranked in the new NAIA National Poll released today.

Judson, now 1-1 on the year, took the early lead in the 9th minute when Samantha Vestal (Bakersfield, Calif.) sailed a penalty kick into the net for the 1-0 lead.  The lead only lasted eight minutes when Graceland tied the game at one.  In the 35th minute, GU took the lead for good, 2-1, as they headed into the locker room.

The second half did not get any easier for the Eagles.  Graceland landed their third goal in the 63rd minute to finish off the scoring at 3-1.

Graceland out shot Judson, 5-3, with shots on goal.  In her second start in goal, Rebecca O’Donnell (Wheeling, Ill.) had three saves.

Judson will have another test on Saturday, September 8th, as they face the University of St. Francis (IN) in Ft. Wayne, Ind.  St. Francis is currently ranked #4 in NAIA Region VIII.
