Elgin, Ill. - Judson University head softball coach Becky Stenning is now a featured coach on the Softballchannel.com as an Illinois Wesleyan University alumni. Stenning, a former IWU softball player, received the honor because of being a softball alumni of Illinois Wesleyan.
Stenning was a standout player and assistant coach for IWU and participated in the NCAA National Tournament three different times.
As a senior she was a team captain and also received the Gwen Meyer Award for Outstanding Leadership, Sportsmanship and Hard Work. She was on the Dean's List and earned the Order of the Titans Award for Community Service and Leadership.
In 2001, Becky graduated from IWU with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mathematics. She then joined the IWU coaching staff while also completing her Master's Degree in Kinesiology and Recreation at Illinois State University. As part of the staff, Becky helped guide the Titans to a third-place finish at the NCAA Division III World Series in 2003, an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2002 and three straight regular-season CCIW championships. The Titans also won the CCIW Tournament Championship in 2002 and 2003. In 2003, the coaching staff earned CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year.
Stenning has been the coach at Judson for four years now and helped to revamp the program. This past season, Judson finished third at the NCCAA National Tournament and received their first-ever regional ranking under Stenning. Her team in the 2008 season broke numerous single season Judson records and broke the single season record for wins with 24. In four years, she has guided Judson to 72 wins.
In four seasons, she has had eight All-CCAC selections, four NAIA Academic All-Americans, five NCCAA Academic All-Americans, NCCAA All-Americans and NFCA All-American Scholar Athletes, and one CCAC Freshman of the Year. In the 2007 season she guided the Eagles to their first-ever post season appearance at the NCCAA National Tournament.
