SHAWNEE, Okla. - - - Sophomore vaulter Dan Becker (SO/Sheboygan, WI) earned All-American honors at the National Christian College Athletic Association Outdoor Championships at Shawnee, Oklahoma this past weekend. Becker, an NAIA outdoor qualifier and 3-time CCAC champion, cleared 4.40m before shattering a pole and settling for third place.

 

After a frustrating day in the javelin, Jon Sanders (JR/Carol Stream, IL) came up big on his last throw of the competition. Sanders' 48.55m toss was good for 6th place. Ben Simpson (FR/Winslow, IL) established a new JU record in the Decathlon competing the two day event with a score of 4224 points. Simpson's point total was good for 9th place in the Decathlon. Others competing for Judson included Andrew Allen (SO/Milford, IL) (discus-10th at 39.85m, hammer-14th at 41.06m), Jordy Arriaga (SR/Prospect Heights, IL) (1500m run-10th at 4:02.91) and Joseph Sipiorski (SO/Algonquin, IL) (800m run -13th at 1:57.25). Robert Bruns (JR/St. Joseph, MO) competed in the 3,000m steeplechase finishing 9th in 10:21.60 and doubled back in the 5,000m run, running 17:10.38 to finish in 10th place.

 

The Eagles finished 16 out of 25 teams. Judson competes next at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Gulf Shores, AL. NAIA Indoor runner up Anali Cisneros, four time NAIA qualifier Jeniffer Donnell and 3-time CCAC Champion Dan Becker will represent Judson in the 5,000m race walk, the shot put, and the pole vault at the outdoor championships.
