ROSEMONT, Ill. - - - It was an early start to the 2017 CCAC softball tournament but the Eagles' bats seemed wide awake in the opening game. Judson, the No.3 seed in the tournament, face No.6 seeded Cardinal Stritch University in game one in Rosemont, Illinois. The teams had split their previous double-header match up and Judson made to sure to jump out to an early lead. A five run second inning did just that as the Eagles' offense and a stellar pitching performance sealed the deal for a round one 5-0 win.

Lauren Herlihy (FR/Frankfort, IL) got the start for Judson and continued her dominance in the circle. With a team best 15-1 record and 2.12 ERA, the freshman held CSU to five hits and no runs through seven innings. The Judson offense opened the game up in the second inning totaling five runs on four hits. Lauren King (SR/Elgin, IL) got things started with a lead-off double and was followed by a sacrifice and walk that both reached to load the bases. Diamond Owens (SO/Oswego, IL) tallied the first RBI with a single to center that gave Judson the 1-0 lead. Stephanie Stefancic (JR/Wilmington, IL) reached on her own fielders choice RBI and then Mary Emington (SR/Cadillac, MI), the recent Judson University Female Athlete of the Year selection, hit a three run shot to left field for the 5-0 lead.

Notables included the Eagles' 1-5 hitters all tallying a hit with Stefancic and Skye Osborne (FR/Romeoville, IL) both going 2-for-4 and Emington totaling three RBI going 1-for-4. Owens finished 1-for-3 on the day while picking up a RBI and run scored in the ninth spot.

Next Up: Judson advances in the winners bracket and will face No.2 seed Olivet Nazarene for a 8:00am start on Friday, May 5th. Winner would advance to play at 4:00pm the same day and the loser would go on to play the game before at 2:00pm.
