Elgin, Ill. – With the new season and new team forming for the 2008-09 athletic year, Judson University head men's basketball coach Tony Tompkins has announced that Jonathan Kash has signed to play for the Eagles. Kash is coming to Judson after two years at Spoon River College and joins fellow teammate Nate McNeely.
Kash, originally from Scheller, Illinois, played in 25 games for Spoon River under head coach Marcus Floyd this past season. He had season highs of 13 points vs. Illinois Central College and nine rebounds vs. Southeastern Community College in the 2007-08 season. He was also named to the Dean's List at Spoon River.
At Waltonville High School, Kash played three sports in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a four-year letterman in basketball for head coach Micheal Denault where he was named to the All-Mid-South team two years in a row. In his senior season, he was selected to the All-State honorable mention team and the Kiwana's All-Stare Team. He also helped Waltonville to a school record 28 wins, too.
Academically, Kash was an Army Reserve scholar-athlete for Waltonville High School. He was also given a scholar-athlete award, was a member of the honor roll, and participated in FFA and BETA. He is the son of Randall and Debbie Kash.
Judson is coming off one of their finest seasons in the history of the program as they claimed the CCAC regular season and tournament championships for the first-time ever. They also advanced to their first-ever NAIA Division II National Tournament and broke the school record for consecutive wins at seven.
