Elgin, IL……Judson University women's tennis wrapped up their season with a loss in the first round of the CCAC conference tournament against Purdue Northwest 5-4. The Eagles came out dominating the doubles line up with wins at the No. 2 doubles (Irina Iacob & Michaela Pryde) and No. 3 doubles (Paulette Romero & Abigail Jungles). With the 2-1 lead heading into the singles matches, the Eagles knew they would have their hands full with the singles matchups. After an injury default at the No. 6 singles spot, the match was tied at 2-2. As Judson picked up a single's win by Paulette Romero at No.5, Purdue Northwest was securing their own victories at No.1 and No.3. As the matches were winding down, No. 2 singles (Irina Iacob) spilt sets and soon found herself in third set tie-breaker. After battling her opponent for every point, Iacob was victorious with the win. With the match tied at 4-4, the last and deciding match of the day was still on the courts as Abby Jungles was battling back from losing her first set to force a third set tie breaker. As much as she tried to hold off the multiple match points, Jungles lost her match 10-8 in the tie breaker.

Despite the loss, the Eagles have had a successful year while playing some tough teams in their schedule. The Eagles ended their season with a 10-14 record, but some of those losses were close matches. As the Eagles prepare for next year, they will be welcoming in 4 new ladies onto the roster from local area high schools.

With the close of the 2017 CCAC conference season, Judson's very own No. 1 singles player, Martha Banda was selected by the conference coaches to the CCAC All – Conference Ladies team for her hard- work this year in our conference matches. Congrats go out to Martha Banda for this recognition.
