ELGIN, Ill. - - - The end of the season is quickly approaching and you better hang on to your seats as the CCAC race heats up going into the final two weeks of action. The Eagles got a big boost in Tuesday action against Calumet College of St. Joseph as Judson swept the Crimson Wave in the two game series with 6-0 and 7-1 wins. Pitching dominated the CCSJ batters and the offense provided the necessary support for Judson's fifth CCAC sweep of the season.

The two wins could not have come at a better time as the Eagles now sit 29-14 overall and 15-4 in the CCAC. With the team going one game behind CCAC leader St. Francis (IL) in a 1-2 series loss against St. Ambrose, it was Trinity International that provided the upset in cross division action. With TIU's sweep of the Fighting Saints, Judson now holds a one game lead atop the CCAC. With eight games left in the CCAC regular season, the Eagles have put themselves in a good spot for a run at another CCAC title.

In case you missed it, the Eagles pitching staff put on a clinic against Calumet College with three great performances from Ty Parquette (SR/Crystal Lake, IL), Brennan Polcyn (JR/Channahon, IL), and Matthew Meier (FR/Joliet, IL). Between the three, they combined for two wins and 26 strike outs. To put that in perspective, 50 percent of the recorded outs through both games came on strike outs. Parquette remains perfect improving to 8-0 overall with his second consecutive complete game one-hitter while striking out 10 on the start. Polcyn broke even with his six inning gem to improve to 4-3 overall while allowing three hits and one run while totaling nine K's. Meier worked three innings of relief after replacing Polcyn and started his first two innings with six strike-outs. Meier would allow just one hit in the ninth and end with seven K's.

The Judson offense provided great run support in both games taking a 2-0 lead after the second inning in game one and a 6-0 lead after the first inning in game two. Notable performances included Cullen Mayhew (JR/Gatesville, TX) and David Matthews (JR/Chicago, IL) who both hit home runs in game two. Mayhew finished the day 5-for-8 at the plate with five RBI and one run scored. Matthews broke and early game one slump and went 2-for-4 in game two scoring twice and tallying one RBI. Andrew Siegler (JR/Batavia, IL ) was another Eagle to have a day at the plate as he went 3-for-5 scoring three times and adding one RBI. Tanner Kehrer (JR/Belvidere, IL) was 2-for-2 in game one and added two runs and one RBI.

Eight games remain in CCAC action and the Eagles will be back home against the same team that gave them the lead in the CCAC standings. Judson will host Trinity International (IL) on Saturday, April 22nd with first pitch set for 1:00pm(CT).
