Joliet, Ill. – The 2008 season came to end in the NAIA Region VII Tournament as Judson University (18-25) fell to #1 St. Francis, 11-5. Judson played from behind the entire game as USF jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Judson finishes one of their finest seasons ever by claiming the CCAC Tournament Championship and advancing to the NAIA Regional Tournament for the first time.

Angel Cisneros led Judson with a 3-of-3 performance and two RBI. Kyle Kobernus took the loss from Judson.

After USF took a 6-0 lead, Judson cut the lead to four, 6-2, in the fourth inning and then made it 7-5 in the sixth inning. That is as close as Judson would come as USF scored two more runs in the seventh and eighth innings for the win.

Judson pounded out 14 hits but left 10 runners on. USF had 17 hits in the game.

Judson only loses three seniors in Scott Kainovic, Rafael Tejada, Jr., and Kyle Kobernus. The 2008 season brought many highs and first for the Judson baseball program from knocking off nationally ranked teams to breaking and tying several records.

Rich Benjamin finishes his first season at 18-25 and 12-8 in the CCAC.
