ELGIN, Ill. - - - Illya Galloway (SR/Lansing, IL) led the Eagles averaging a double-double and totaling 16 double-double performances throughout the season. Overall, Galloway averaged 13.3 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game. With his dominant performance during the 2016-17 season, Galloway finished ranked No.5 in the NAIA for total rebounds per game, No.7 in offensive rebounds per game, No.8 in defensive rebounds per game, and No.9 in total rebounds at 330 for the season. Galloway also shot an impressive 62 percent from the field good for No.12 in the nation and top five in Judson Men's Basketball program history.
Topping the season honors included Galloway being selected to the NCCAA North Central All-Region team. Galloway was the Eagles' only selection this season behind Justin Allen (SR/Hampshire, IL) being selected to the All-Region team last year.
"This is a well-deserved award for Illya. He was a tireless worker for us this season," quoted head coach Brian Thrift. "Illya put in a lot of extra hours working on his game and it paid off in big ways for our program. It was an absolute joy watching him mature as an inside force this season. Illya is the type of young man that we want to build our program around as we build Judson University men's basketball into a CCAC Championship contender once again. His presence will be missed next year, but his example will be a blue print on how we will build our program in the years to come."
