ELGIN, Ill. - - - The post season ramps back up over the weekend for the women's basketball team as they head to Greenville, Illinois for the NCCAA Regional Tournament. The tournament is hosted by Greenville College and will feature four teams in the two day tournament; Judson, Trinity Christian College, University of Northwestern St. Paul, and Greenville.

The Eagles open against NCAA DIII University of Northwestern St. Paul Friday, March 3rd with tip-off set for 6:00pm (CST). This will be the second consecutive year the two teams have met in the NCCAA Regional and Judson will be looking to extend their post-season run Friday night. With a win Friday night, Judson would go on to face the winner between host Greenville versus Trinity Christian College on Saturday. The winner of the four team tournament would then get the bid to move onto the NCCAA National Tournament that would take place between March 15-18.

THE MATCH-UP:

The two teams match up very well with the Eagles having a slight edge in a few categories. Northwestern has averaged 62.8 points per game and kept opponents to 59.3 points with Judson scoring 67 points per game while keeping their opponents to a slightly higher 64.8 points per games. UNW has the edge offensively shooting an impressive 41 percent from the field for the season while the Eagles recorded a 37.3 shooting average. But Judson has a strong rebounding game beating Northwestern by an average margin of 42.5 to 37.7 rebounds per game and a higher free-throw percentage of 69.6 percent compared to UNW's 61.6 percent.

Both teams bring in big play makers with UNW's Amy Berglund and JU's Jayla Barrett (JR/Homewood, IL) leading their respective squads with 14.4 points per game. But the Eagles' front court gives Barrett great support with seven players averaging over five points per game and a rebounding trio that accounts for 421 of the season's 1,275 total rebounds. While still the second leading scorer on the season, Kelli Ludwig (SR/Loves Park, IL) has rounded out her game as one of the best 5'5" rebounders in the NAIA. Ludwig pulled in 138 rebounds, second best on the team, while Mel Claudio and Bethany Zornow (JR/Algonquin, IL) pulled in 130 and 153 rebounds respectively. Claudio and Zornow's inside-outside game is also a nightmare match-up as Claudio is shooting 47.7 percent from the field and Zornow has averaged 30.9 percent from three-point range. UNW will also deal with a dangerous Judson bench that averages 19.3 points per game. Emylyn Wright (SO/Oregon, IL), Starletta Keene, Maggie Mahar (SO/Mundelein, IL), and Diamond Courts (SR/Broadview, IL) give Judson great depth and are all averaging over five points per game.  The four combine to shoot 35 percent from the field and are led by Emylyn Wright who averages 7.8 point per game in just 16 games played this season. The floor generals of Ashley Heine (SR/Hoffman Estates, IL) and Courts have combined for 157 assists and will look to push the fast-paced offense and facilitate between all the Eagles' offensive threats.
