Kevin Fischer started off the game by getting on base on a fielding error and then scored right away as DePablos smacked a double. Ehrlich followed DePablos with a deep single to center field that scored DePablos for a 2-0 lead. Two batters later, Rafael Tejada, Jr., picked up an RBI with a single to center field scoring Jacob Bostwick from second base.
St. Ambrose answered back with one run in the bottom of the inning to cut JU's lead to two. Judson then played great defense the next four innings to keep their lead.
Judson had opportunities to break open the game in the third and fourth inning when they had runners in scoring position but did not get the hit to extend the lead.
In the sixth inning, St. Ambrose tied the game at three with two runs and then had a five-run inning in the seventh to gain a 8-3 lead. SAU then added one more run in the eighth to make it 9-3.
Overall, Judson and St. Ambrose both had 11 hits while Judson left 10 runners on base.
St. Ambrose is the #2 seed in the tournament and now will face #6 Iowa Wesleyan as the Wildcats knocked off #1 St. Francis, 11-2. SAU is the returning regional champion as they won the Region VII tournament last year.
