ELGIN, Ill. - - - The men's basketball team conlcuded their 2016-17 season Saturday afternoon in a 82-69 loss versus the Fighting Bees from St. Ambrose University. The Eagles conclude one of their better season in over five years with a record of 9-21 overall and 4-16 in the CCAC. Five seniors went out on top scoring in double digits lead by Andrew Eck who finished with 21 points. Cody Thomas and Justin Allen each contributed 12 points each while Illya Galloway recorded his 16th double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kevin Sexton also finished with 10 points on the night going 4-for-8 from the field and leading the team with four assists. 


The careers of 11 Eagles came to an end but their lasting impact on the program will be felt for years to come. Below is a recap of those careers and remarks from Coach Brian Thrift as read during the ceremonies.

#4 Andrew Eck

Andrew has played his entire career as an Eagle. He has averaged 9.5 point per game and 6.2 rebounds per game this season. He shot 83.9 percent from the free-throw line which is good for no.10 all-time in a single season. For his career, Andrew ranks no.17 all-time in scoring, no.10 all-time in several categories as well that include career free-throw made and career free-throw percentage. Coach Thrift on Andrew, "When I think of Eck, I think of true leadership. He has always been willing to take on any role that the team has needed this season. He has played out of position all season and has done a remarkable job. He has sacrificed his body for this program and it never stopped him from giving everything he has to this team."

Andrew will graduate in May with a degree in Biochemistry and will begin medical school in July at McGovern Medical School in Houston, Texas where he plans to become an Orthopedic surgeon.


#5 Cody Thomas

Cody has played his entire career at Judson. He has been a mainstay in the starting line-up for a couple of years. He has averaged 7.0 points per game, 236 career assists and ranks no.13 all-time at Judson in career 3-pt attempts. Coach Thrift on Thomas, "Cody gives every ounce of energy and effort in every game he plays. He leaves everything on the floor and is a coach's dream because he does whatever is asked of him. He has a passion to serve people on campus and in his community and he will have a great impact to all he encounters in his life."

Cody will graduate in May with a double major in Business Management and Marketing.


#10 Will Woodhouse

Will has been a 3-pt shooting threat his entire Judson career. He is averaging 8.1 points per game while shooting 38 percent from behind the arc. He has amassed 904 points for his career and ranked no.2 in career 3-pt shots made with 217 and no.2 in career 3-pt attempts at 617. Coach Thrift on Woodhouse, "There aren't too many people that can shoot like Will. Opposing teams have to keep an eye on him at all times when he is on the floor. While Will can certainly shoot, it is not what defines him as a player. He brings a tremendous work ethic to our team both on and off the court. Will is such a tremendous young man and carries himself in a Christ like manner, whter it's to spend time with friends or hang out with a young Eagles' fan that wants to shoot hoops. They simply do not come much better then Will.

Will is going to graduate in May with a degree in Business Management.


#12 Justin Allen

Justin has played the last two season with the Eagles after transferring from Elgin Community College. He has led the team all season in scoring at 12.1 points per game. In just his two years at Judson, Allen has scored 804 points. Coach Thrift on Allen, "Justin is an outstanding basketball player. His ability to score at all three levels has made him successful in the CCAC. Justin has an infectious personality and it makes him a very likeable young man. I look forward to the many great things he is going to do in his life."

Justin will graduate with a degree in Psychology.


#14 Illya Galloway

Illya has played his entire career at Judson. He has averaged 13.4 points per game, 11 rebounds per game, and shot 62 percent from the floor this season. He has had 15 double-double performances this season and has averaged such through 30 games. He is currently ranked no.1 in rebounding in the CCAC and is ranked no.4 in field goal percentage at 61.7 percent. Galloway also has numerous NAIA rankings including no.2 in total rebounds, no.4 in rebounds per game, no.5 in offensive rebounds, and no.13 in field goal percentage. For his Judson career, he holds the no.2 spot for field goal percentage in a single season. Coach Thrift on Galloway, "I started calling Illya 'Beast' at the beginning of the season because I knew he had the skill set to dominate games on the interior. He has lived up to that nickname all season. What is more impressive to me is how humble Illya is as e shows up to practice ready to work and improve and has put in so much extra work this season; and it has paid off in big ways."

Illya is pursuing a degree in Exercise and Sport Science.


#21 Drew Makiewicz

Drew has played all four years at Judson. His season was cut short with a back injury, but his presence was felt all season from the sidelines. He has accumulated 639 points in his career and is ranked no.7 in career 3-pt attempts with 375. Coach Thrift on Drew, "Despite injury, Drew has played a pivotal role on this team this season. He was the biggest teammate on the bench and his enthusiasm is infectious. Drew is a natural leader and will do great things in life."

Drew will graduate in May with a double major in Business Management and Marketing.


#30 Kevin Sexton

Kevin came to Judson as a graduate transfer for this season. Sexton averaged 12.7 points per game and 4.0 assists per game. Kevin has started all 29 games this season and leads the team in minutes played. His four assists per game ranks him at no.3 in the CCAC this season. Coach Thrift on Kevin, "He has a true passion for the game and it shows in every aspect of his preparation and performance. He is one of the most dedicated basketball players I have coached in my 20 years of coaching. Kevin's attention to detail is unmatched and it will provide him with great opportunities as he moves through life."

Kevin is currently pursuing his Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership.


#32 Cortez King

Cortez joined the Eagles in the 2015-16 season. He is a versatile player that can guard multiple positions on the floor. His season was cut short with a shoulder injury in the first game of 2016. For his career, King averaged 5.9 points per game while grabbing 2.9 rebound per game. Coach Thrift on King, "Cortez brings so much energy and passion to everything he does and has overcome a lot in his life. He has grown a passion to give back to the youth in his hometown and already has a great job lined up after graduation."

Cortez will graduate in May with a degree in Business Management.


#50 Luke Rose

Luke has played his entire career at Judson. Rose is a tremendously hard working player that has the ability to alter shots against opposing players. Luke has battled through some minor injuries this season, but has maintained a great work ethic. Coach Thrift quoted, "Rose is a gifted young man that has a passion for people and serving. He has a strong spiritual life and carried himself in a Christ like manner. Rose has improved his game this season with a lot of extra work he has put in. Luke will have a lasting impression on this program for years to come."

Luke is pursuing a degree in Sports Administration.


#55 Scott Nelson

Scott played his entire career at Judson. Nelson's senior season was cut short with a knee injury early in the season. An athletic big man, Scott was a match-up nightmare for opposing forwards. He has the ability to shoot the ball and snatch rebounds with his size and athleticism. Coach Thrift said about Nelson, "Scott is a very determined young man. He has had to overcome a lot of injuried in his career, but it never seemed to dampen his enthusiasm for basketball or his teammates."

Scott will graduate with a degree in pre-physical therapy and plans to pursue a physical therapy degree next Fall.


Aaron Petrowich; Student Assistant

Aaron has been with the basketball program for the last two season as a student assistant. Petrowich has performed several tasks in his role with the team. He has also assisted with the summer basketball camps at Judson and involved within the student body as a resident assistant. Coach Thrift remarks, "Aaron was the first person I met when I took this position late last summer. He basically ran basketball camp as I got settled in. His role this year has been key in helping us make in game adjustments and assisting with stats on the bench."

Aaron is a double major in Education and Mathematics.
