SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. - - - The men's and women's bowling teams traveled to Sun Prairie, Wis. On Sunday afternoon to take part in the Junior Bowlers Scholarship Tour tournament. The tournament consisted of 118 bowlers and Judson's own Lowell Lynde IV and Blanca Perez Millan (FR/Carolina, Puerto Rico) took home top honors and also qualified as 2017 USA Jr. Gold tournament representatives.
The format of the tournament consisted of six games in a 40 ft sport shot pattern with the top 16 of the men and top 8 for women advancing in match play. The first three games counted towards qualification for the biggest youth tournament in the US, Jr. Gold. This tournament will be in July and hosted in Cleveland, Ohio
Lynde led the competition the whole day in the men's category. Lynde's total for six games was 1,332 for a 222 average. He advanced in match play with 15 other bowlers and had to bowl four different match play games. Lynde finished as the Junior Bowlers Scholarship tournament champion and earned his qualification for the USA Jr. Gold tournament.
In the women's category, Perez finished 2nd overall with a 1,173 series score for a 195 average. Perez passed for the match play round, but lost her first match. Even though she didn't get to bring home the championship on the women's side, she was able to get her pass for the 2017 USA Jr. Gold tournament as well.
Lowell and Blanca overall had a great tournament and the rest of the team competed well with only one or two games that cost other team members from advancing. This tournament proved a great experience to get them ready for sectional singles next month.
