ELGIN, Ill. - - - Judson balanced a well paced tempo with great ball movement that resulted in a dominate first quarter over Roosevelt University Wednesday evening. The Eagles tallied a 6-0 run and held the Lakers scoreless in the first four minutes and 15 seconds. The lead never diminished for the Eagles as they coasted to a 63-47 win. Judson now breaks even with a 10-9 overall record and a 6-4 overall record in the conference.

The game was key in securing a big lead for third place in the CCAC north division as the Lakers now fall to fourth place, two games behind the Eagles. With a two game win streak in conference, Judson will look to continue a dominate second half of CCAC action in the upcoming weeks. Important matches pair the Eagles against division leaders No. 3 Saint Xavier and No. 19 Cardinal Stritch.

Good news, the Eagles look in sync and playing great team basketball. The team produced 17 assists in the win over Roosevelt and shot 38 percent from the field while shooting 70 percent from the free-throw line. Judson outscored the Lakers 22-6 in the first quarter alone and would only lose the fourth quarter 18-14. JU ran the court well with numerous fast break opportunities that resulted in 10 points on the night.

Jayla Barrett (JR/Homewood, IL) and Maggie Mahar (SO/Mundelein, IL) continue to lead the Eagles in scoring as they went for 16 and 13 points respectively. The two have led the team in the past two contests as Barrett is now averaging 15.1 points a game and Mahar tallied her second straight game scoring double figures. Bethany Zornow (JR/Algonquin, IL) finished 4-for-6 from the field that included 3-for-4 from 3-pt range. Zornow would be the third Eagle to finish in double figures with 11 points.

Judson will enter into a two game road trip as they travel to Governors State University on Saturday, January 14th and St. Ambrose University on Wednesday, January 18th. Tip-off times set for 1:00pm at GSU and 5:30pm at SAU.
