Westvile, Ind. - Appearing in their first-ever CCAC Tournament Championship game, Judson University fell to host Purdue-North Central, 20-7, in a nine-inning game. Both teams will now play for the CCAC Tournament Championship on Saturday, May 3rd, at 12:00 p.m. The winner of the game will receive the at-large bid to the NAIA Region VII Tournament to be played May 6th-9th in St. Francis, Ill.
The loss was the first for Judson in the tournament as they defeated Olivet Nazarene, 6-2, and Purdue-North Central, 9-7, yesterday. Judson needs to be defeated twice in order to loss the championship. PNC defeated Trinity Christian, lost to Judson, and then defeated ONU to face Judson. PNC then beat Judson, 20-7, to force a second game.
With the loss, Judson is now 17-23 on the season. They are playing for their first-ever bid to the NAIA Regional Tournament as no Judson baseball team has played in the NAIA Region VII Tournament.
Brett Ehrlich went 2-of-5 with four RBI and one run scored in the loss. Zach Scipoine, Nate Haberkorn, and Trent Golz each had a RBI. Alci Gonzales received the loss as he went four innings and gave up nine runs in which seven were earned.
