
Bourbonnais, Ill. – Going extra innings with #2 St. Francis, Judson University fell to the Saints in the eighth inning, 3-2. USF's Bozeman doubled home Behrens with one out in the bottom of the eighth to end the game. Judson is now 23-23 on the season and will host Carthage College at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5th, for Senior Day.
The 1-2 record in the CCAC Tournament is the best appearance for Judson since the 2003 season when they went 3-2. The win on Wednesday was also the first for Becky Bruns in the CCAC Tournament and tied the school record for wins in a season.
USF took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a two-run home run. Judson bounced right back with two of their own runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game.
With two outs, Tricia Lakotish doubled to left center to bring home Debra Leganski for the first run of the game. After USF switched pitchers, Judson's Brittany Nicley singled to deep second base as Amy Meier scored to tie the game. Judson grounded out on the next batter to end the inning.
In the top of the seventh inning, Judson had a chance to break the tie as they had the bases loaded with only one out. USF's Malcina pitched her way out of the jam as she struck out the final two batters of the inning to end the threat.
Judson left 11 runners on in the game and had 11 hits overall to St. Francis' five. Amy Meier and Carrie Sensor led Judson by going 2-of-4. Lakotish had a double while Aimee Ewert had a triple. Ewert took the loss as she pitched 7.1 innings and had two strikeouts.
