Elgin, Ill. - - - Three Judson seniors go out with a win as the Eagles defeated Trinity International University Thrusday night in the final regular season match at the Lindner Fitness Center. Cara Tyrrell, Brittany Huber, and Grace Smith all produced great performances that included a record breaking performance from Smith.

The Eagles, (17-18, 12-7 CCAC) swept the Trojans, (10-27, 4-15 CCAC)  in three sets 25-22, 25-20, 25-17 and finished the home schedule with an even 6-6 record. Judson will next face off in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament beginning next Tuesday. The Eagles secured a No.5 seed with Cardinal Stritch losing to St. Xavier, and JU will face No.4 St. Xavier as Trinity Christian upset Olivet Nazarene.

The top story though is Grace Smith's four solo blocks that propelled her into the record books against Trinity International. Smith easily ran over the block assist record earlier this season totaling now 380, and broke the single season solo block record Tuesday night with a total of 60. Recent inductee to the 2016 Hall of Fame, Julie (Anderson) Schickert, holds most of the blocking records and Smith has been tracking them down the last four years to final reach the number one spot in both career block assists and single season solo blocks.

Smith also totaled eight kills on the night to hit a .500 clip. Jennifer Donnell led the team against TIU with 11 kills and Claire Speweik and Taylor Konchel each added eight kills as well. Senior Huber and Tyrrell combined for 24 defensive digs in the back line and Huber tallied six kills as well. All around the Eagles put together important late set scoring runs that propelled them to a 3-0 sweep. Trinity International gave Judson a run for their money with two close first sets but could not close the deal on a talent Judson defensive line and solid attack.
