SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - - - The Judson University men's tennis team traveled to Springfield, IL over the weekend to battle against one of the better NCAA Div. II programs in the area. The Eagles suffered a tough loss to the UIS Stars, but did not go down without some pretty tough matches in which three ended in third set tie-breakers. Judson entered into this match knowing UIS was a strong team and they would have their hands full; needing to bring their best game and every bit of energy to win. The doubles matches were all close with Judson only coming out with one point by Joshua Gronowski & Riley Rowan at No.3 dubs with an easy win. John Mittvick & Elisha Hougland batteld back from being down early in the match to a 9-7 loss in what was a very close and competitive match. Carlos Clerins & Erik Jorsal also came to play and they showed us that they can definitely play at a higher level as they battled during their match to also suffer an 8-6 loss.

Once the singles matches started, the Eagles played every point with energy and gave everything they got to win many games. Erik Jorsal went to a third set tie-breaker, which he lost 10-7 as well as Riley Rowan who lost in a third set-tie-breaker to a very close call that swung the momentum and match to UIS. Joshua Gronowski and Carlos Clerins won their respective matches over their opponents as they added two more points to the match count. This was their second loss of the season and they are definitely playing better tennis as the season has progressed. The Eagles close out their season at home on Saturday, October 15th against Truman State University starting at 9:00am.
