ELGIN, Ill. - - - It only took one goal for the Eagles to notch their third victory in CCAC conference play as they took down the 3-0 in conference team Trinity International University (IL). Judson defended their home turf Wednesday afternoon in a high intensity match that had both teams looking for a break through moment. Zack Pautz and Sergio Bortolon created that moment for the Eagles, and the assist from Pautz was finished by Bortolon finding the back of the net. Judson warded off a fury of shots from TIU and finished the game strong and never letting up on the energy for the 1-0 win.

Judson (4-5-2, 3-3-0 CCAC) was in need of a solid win and produced that win against Trinity International (4-5-2, 3-1-1 CCAC) who came into the match having a perfect record in conference action. The intensity could be felt between these two teams from kick-off and a battle ensued for the next 90 minutes. Both teams found great chances in the first half with numerous loose balls in front of the net that were kicked wide or just knicked off the tip of the goalkeepers fingers.

Adrian Padilla had one of the best performances of the season in goal as he shutout the Trojans for his third of the year while totaling nine saves on the 12 TIU shots. The great defensive performances was also aided by a little luck as multiple attempts from the Trojans were inches away from go ahead goals. Judson remained calm and collected and turned the defensive effort into offensive pushes.

It was Judson who seized the best of one opportunity in the 59th minute that led to the 1-0 lead and eventual win. Zack Pautz received the ball at midfield and found a streaking Sergio Bortolon heading to the back of the box. Beating all the defenders, Bortolon got great position and finished into the corner of the goal. Bortolon totaled his sixth goal of the season and Pautz tallied his four assist.

The Eagles played a well rounded game and played as if they were down a goal throughout the match. With little to lose, Judson gained a lot handing the Trojans their first conference loss. JU will look to repeat similar success this Saturday as they host Purdue-Northwest on October 8th starting at 2:30pm. Be sure to arrive early as we will also be honoring our Senior's for Senior Day before the match begins.
