ELGIN, Ill. -- If you blinked, you might have missed it. Murielle Vansach (SR/Chicago, Ill.) set a new single season record as she recorded her 38th stolen base this season. Vansach's speed has been a valuable asset to the team since she transferred in three years ago from Norther Illinois. As of now, Vansach has totaled 38 stolen bases this season and has accumulated 86 in her career.

Vansach has been "stealing" records in her past three years and is chasing down the career stolen base record set at 98 by Jodie Baker (1999-2002). In Monday's game against St. Ambrose, Vansach broke Jodie's single season record set at 37 and looks to keep adding to the tally. With the number now at 13 to tie the record, Vansach has 11 more regular season games to try and reach the 98 mark. Anything is possible as Vansach has proven her speed ranking first in the CCAC in stolen bases, and ranking third in NAIA Div. I softball averaging 1.000 stolen bases per game and fourth in steal attempts per game (1.026).
