Valparaiso, Ind. – Taking on their second NCAA Division I baseball team this season, Judson University (14-21) fell to Valparaiso University (11-24), 13-0. Judson also played the University of Illinois on March 24th.

Playing just a nine-inning game, Judson could not muster an offense in the loss. Valpo's Gulbransen pitched five innings and combined with four other pitchers to only allow three hits. Gulbransen gave up two of the three hits.

Picking up hits for Judson were Brett Ehrlich, Rafael Tejada, and Jacob Bostwick. Judson also left 10 runners on base as six batters were walked.

Valpo started off the game with three runs in the bottom of the first inning and then made it 7-0 in the third inning. A four-run fifth inning put Valpo up 11-0 and then they scored two more runs in the seventh inning.

In the fourth inning, Judson had a chance to score with the bases loaded and only one out but did not get the hit they needed to cross the plate. In that inning, they had two of their three hits as Ehrlich and Tejada both singled and then Scott Kainovic was walked to load the bases.

Again, in the fifth inning, Judson threatened with runners on the corners and two outs but the inning was ended in a ground out.

Judson used four pitchers in the game as Alci Gonzales took the loss going three innings with one strikeout. Carlos Soto and Juan P. DeArmas each pitched two innings and combined to give up six runs. Kyle Kobernus worked the eighth inning and struck out two of the three batters he faced.

Judson will now host St. Xavier on Saturday, April 26th, in the final regular season game of the season in a key CCAC series.
