ELGIN, Ill -- The softball team continued conference action against the Trojans from Trinity International Saturday afternoon in a double-header that concluded a eight game week for Judson. After starting 0-4 early in the week, the Eagles were able to turn things around with two straight sweeps of Robert Morris and TIU to finish the week 4-4 overall. Judson got its offense going early with a pitching performance that allowed just three runs in 12 innings. The Eagles took game one, 5-3, and returned to finish the second game early in five innings with an 11-0 win.

Judson, now 22-15 overall - 8-5 in the CCAC, got off to a rocky start as Trinity International took a 3-0 lead early in game one on a three run home run. But those three runs would be the only runs all game found by TIU as the Eagles fought back for a 5-3 win in game one and them went on a scoring spree in game two.

Brianna Tennyson (SR/Pleasant Prairie, WI) would pick up both wins against TIU to improve to 15-10 overall. Tennyson totaled 12 strike-outs in her 11 innings pitched allowing only three earned runs. Elizabeth Walker (JR/Olney, IL) finished the fifth inning of game two and allowed no hits and no runs in her inning of work.

At the plate, Judson totaled eight extra base hits with seven of those coming in game two. The Eagles got out to the early 1-0 lead in the first and quickly responded in game one getting a run back in the third inning taking advantage of an TIU error that extended the at bats for JU. Judson then followed in the fourth taking the lead 4-3 as a single from Nicky Chapa, RBI double from Ashley Quinlan (JR/Oak Lawn, Ill.), and another error from TIU gave the Eagles two runs in the bottom half. One more run added by Judson in the sixth was a bit of insurance but Tennyson closed the game with three quick fly outs.

The Eagles then carried the momentum into game two jumping out to a 5-0 lead by the end of the third inning. Tennyson got things going with a lead-off double that turned into a two-run inning for Judson. Mary Emington (JR/Cadillac, MI) hit her sixth home run in the second with a solo line-drive shot to left field. Three base-hit doubles from Sarah Friedlund (SO/Dekalb, IL), Lauren King (JR/Elgin, Ill.), and Emington aided a  two run third inning before the Eagles opened the door wide open with a six run fourth inning. Tennyson, Friedlund, King, Emington, and Ashley Quinlan all found doubles in the game and added two of those doubles in the sixth with bases loaded. Three straight singles led to the RBI doubles to give Judson an 11-0 lead. That lead eventually led to the game ending in five innings for the sweep of TIU.

Next up for Judson is a rescheduled game against Saint Ambrose (IA) on Monday, April 18th at the Judson Softball Complex with first pitch set for 4:00pm.
