ELGIN, Ill. -- Judson opened their three game series against Robert Morris University Friday evening as RMU traveled to Robert A. Hoffer Field for the CCAC night-cap. The series has been deemed the "battle of the Eagles" and Judson has set the tone early in the conference series. Judson is a difficult team to beat at home with a now 14-1 record and a nine game conference win streak. Judson has not lost a game in the month of April and continued their hot streak with a 8-3 win in game one of the series.

With Judson at the top of the conference standings, the Eagles have put a target on their back for the rest of the season. Robert Morris showed momentum early jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning off an RMU two run home run. Angel Sanchez (SR/Northlake, IL) took the mound for Judson and to that point had only allowed one homerun in his 10 starts. Sanchez quickly bounced back scattering 12 runs on three runs, two earned through the next seven innings to improve to 8-1 overall.

At the plate Judson wasted no time quickly getting back three runs to take a 3-2 in the third inning. The Eagles would only need one more run to keep the lead but scattered two runs in the fourth and sixth inning while adding a run in the fifth inning. Troy Vandenbroek (JR/Belvidere, IL) got things going with a lead off double in the third followed by a Luke Rojas (SR/St. Charles, IL) RBI triple. Vandenbroek would have a day going 2-for-4 scoring twice with two lead-off doubles in the game. Mark DeYoung (SR/Plainfield, IL) was the second Eagle in the game totaling two doubles and his two RBI double in the third brought in the last two runs of the third inning for the Judson 3-2 lead. DeYoung would finish going 2-for-3 scoring twice with two RBI's. Andrew Siegler (SO/Batavia, IL ) and Rojas also ended the game with two RBI's each and Josh Krueger (FR/Romeoville, IL) added another Eagle 2-for-4 performance with a run and RBI.

Judson put together a good string of innings capatilizing off an RMU error and extra base hits. The Eagles totaled another high six extra base hits in the 8-3 victory while totaling 12 hits on one error. Judson now improves to 27-15 overall and 14-2 in the CCAC. Judson is still riding a nine game win streak and unbeaten streak in the month of April.

The Eagles now travel to Bensenville, Illinois to finish the three game series against Robert Morris in a Saturday double-header starting at 1:00pm. Follow eaglesportsnetwork.com for coverage!
