Elgin, Ill. – Making up game 2 from an April 8th rain out in CCAC play, Judson University (20-19/10-8) completed their CCAC schedule with a 13-8 win over Trinity International (3-26/2-12). Judson will now wait and see if they will make the CCAC post season tournament with their 10-8 record.
Judson hit two more home runs on the day as Debra Leganksi smashed her CCAC leading 12th home run and Lizzy Jacobson connected for her eighth on the season with a grand slam in the fourth inning. Leganski went 3-of-5 with two RBI and one run scored and Carrie Sensor, Nicole Dimiceli, Aimee Ewert, Tricia Lakotish, and Brittany Nicley each had two hits. Dimiceli collected her 16th and 17th doubles on the season, too. Jacobson led the team with five RBI.
Winning her ninth game of the season, Ewert pitched seven innings and had four strikeouts with only three walks.
Trinity International took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning but Judson scored one in the top of the second and third inning to tie the game. Ewert scored the first run when Lakotish singled in the second and then in the third inning Ewert grounded out to the shortstop to score Dimiceli from third base.
TIU retook the lead in the bottom of the inning but the one-run lead only lasted just a bit as Judson erupted for five runs in the top of the fourth inning. Lakotish tied the game at three when she came home on a TIU error. Three batters later, Jacobson let loose a shot the scored four runs for a grand slam to make it 7-3.
Not giving up, TIU fought back and tied the game at seven with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game at seven. Judson did not allow the tie to phase them as they put four more runs on the board for a four-run lead, 11-7. Jacobson grounded out to score Sensor for the first run of the inning and then Leganski followed with a two-run shot to put JU up, 10-7. JU's 11th run came in when Pope singled home Ewert.
TIU finished their scoring in the bottom of the fifth inning with one run to cut Judson's lead to three, 11-8. JU added two more runs in the sixth for the final score of 13-8. Sensor singled home Nicley for the first run then Kristin Krueger added the final run when she crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
