Elgin, Ill. – Splitting a CCAC contest with Calumet College (11-13/3-9), Judson University (13-19/10-6) fell in game one, 2-0, but bounced back for a 9-1 win in game two. With a 10-6 record, Judson is tied for third place in the CCAC.

Oscar DePablos went 3-of-5 in two games with two RBI and two runs scored. Carlos Soto won his third game of the year in game two for Judson.

Game 1
Calumet 2, Judson 0

Judson only had two hits in the game and left six runners on base as Calumet took the 2-0 decision. CC scored two runs in the fourth inning for the lead and then shut out Judson for the win. Alci Gonzales took the loss and had three strikeouts.

DePablos and Scott Kainovic were the only players with hits. Judson had two runners on first and second base in the fourth inning with two outs but did not get the hit as both were left stranded. Then, in the fifth inning, JU had two more runners in scoring position at second and third base with only one. JU then grounded out and flied out to end the inning.

Game 2
Judson 9, Calumet 1

It was a different story in game two as Judson scored eight runs in the first three innings for an 8-0 advantage. DePablos went 2-of-2 with two RBI and one run scored and Zach Scipione was 2-of-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Scott Kainovic had three RBI to lead the team and Roger Lugo and Jacob Bostwick each added a RBI.

Scipione singled in the first run of the game with a hit to right field that scored DePablos. Kainovic followed Scipione with a single to score both Brett Ehrlich and Scipione to make it 3-0.

Two more runs came in the second inning when DePablos tripled to centerfield that brought home Kevin Fischer and Trent Golz for a commanding 5-0 lead. In the third inning, Lugo's single to the shortstop scored Scipione for the sixth run. The next two runs came in on a Calumet error for an 8-0 lead.

Kainovic's sacrifice fly in the sixth inning scored Ehrlich for the ninth run of the game. CC score one run in the top of the seventh on a wild pitch from Soto.

Soto received the win as he had a career-high 10 strikeouts with only three walks while giving up just three hits.

Judson will have a tough task on Saturday, April 19th, as they travel to Joliet, Ill., to face the top team in the CCAC in #13 St. Francis at 12:00 p.m.
