Elgin, Ill. – Bethel College (37-4) showed why they were the #1 team in the nation for the NCCAA as they took both games in day one of the NCCAA North Central Regional Tournament. BC defeated #2 Olivet Nazarene (38-6), 4-1, and Greenville College (8-11), 10-0.

On the day, Judson University (19-18) went 1-1 while ONU was 1-1 and Greenville College was 0-2. ONU defeated Judson, 8-0, for their win of the day and Judson shut out Greenville, 1-0.
 
Saturday's games will feature Olivet Nazarene vs. Greenville College at 10:00 a.m. and Judson vs. Bethel College at 12:00 p.m.
 
Judson 1, Greenville 0
With four straight innings of no scoring, Judson University scored the only run of the game in the fifth inning to make it 1-0. Carrie Sensor hit her first triple of the season to start the inning and then Nicole Dimiceli singled up the middle to score Sensor.
 

Judson had nine hits on the day and stranded 11 runners on base. Four batters had two hits as Sensor and Dimiceli were 2-of-4, Brittany Nicley was 2-of-3, and Rachel Pope 2-of-2. Aimee Ewert won her eighth game of the season with a complete game shutout and recorded eight strikeouts.

ONU 8, Judson 0
ONU scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 8-0 as they shut out Judson. ONU scored one run in the first and two in the second for an early 3-0 lead.
 

In the top of the third inning, Judson had runners on the corners with two outs but could did not get a hit to cut into ONU's lead. ONU then added one run in the fourth to make it 4-0 and then had a four-run sixth inning to end the game.

Chessum received the win for her 20th win of the season and JU's Lizzy Jacobson fell to 8-7 on the season. Jacobson pitched 5.2 innings and had three strikeouts in the loss.

Judson only had four hits in the loss and left eight runners in scoring position.

Bethel 10, Greenville, 0
The #1 team in the nation shut out Greenville for their 36th win of the season. Zirille pitched the entire game for her 12th win of the season.
 

Bethel scored three runs in the second and then seven in the third for the 10-run advantage. Three players had two hits as Dubois and Kramer were 2-of-3 and Perrenot was 2-of-2. Dubois, Kramer, Dennison, and Rassi each had two RBI while Blair had one RBI.

Greenville only produced three hits and Fleshren took the lose while recording two strikeouts.

Bethel 4, ONU 1
The battle between the #1 and the #2 teams in the nation went to Bethel this time, 4-1. This was the second time the two teams have met this year as ONU won the first meeting, 7-2, on April 5th.
 

Hire went seven innings and only gave up four hits with four strikeouts for the win. Koverman pitched for ONU and had four strikeouts in the loss.

ONU scored a run in the top of the first inning for their only lead of the game, 1-0, only to see BC tie the game with at one in the bottom of the inning. BC added another run in the third and then two in the fifth inning for the 4-1 lead.

Rassi went 2-of-3 for BC with two RBI and one run scored. Dubois and Fisher each had a RBI, too. For ONU, Amy Murray went 3-of-3 with the lone RBI.
